Grounds to Match | University Park, Texas

This University Park home for Tanner Homes called for a landscape at the same level as the house. At the front, a formal garden gives the home presence. Out back, the design makes the most of a compact yard.

At the street, a limestone walk and lit steps lead to the door between stone planters, framed by clipped evergreens and Boxwood. A broad lawn keeps the facade the focus.

Behind the house, the pool and spa share one clean outline, and the water sits close enough to read as part of the home. A grid of large pavers set in turf joints organizes the yard and keeps it green, and a covered patio with an outdoor kitchen sits just steps from the water.

A tall hedge of Nellie R. Stevens and Eagleston Holly screens the yard, and Confederate Star Jasmine climbs a diamond cable trellis to form a living green wall. After dark, uplighting turns the hedge into a warm backdrop for the pool.
