The Preserve at Fields in Frisco, Texas is one of the most anticipated master-planned communities in the Metroplex — situated right over the fence from world-class PGA golf courses, built to a standard that announces itself before you've even pulled through the gate. When Alford Homes broke ground on the first home here, Blount Designs was embedded from day one — leading every aspect of landscape design and installation surrounding it.
Pool, hardscape, planting, lighting, drainage — every exterior detail designed, coordinated, and delivered by Blount Designs from the earliest site assessments through the final golden hour walkthrough.

THE SETTING
A community where the surroundings set the standard.
Open skies, long views, and the PGA fairways just beyond the fence. This is a neighborhood that reminds you every evening what the baseline looks like — and expects the properties within it to match it.
Designing a landscape here isn't just about creating something beautiful. It's about creating something that belongs. That holds its own against one of the most dramatic settings in the Metroplex. That feels as considered and intentional as the home it surrounds.
That's the standard Blount Designs showed up to meet.

THE SCOPE
Full landscape. Full ownership.
Blount Designs served as the landscape design lead and installation manager for the entire exterior environment — coordinating every phase from early site assessment through final walkthrough. This wasn't a handoff at permit. Our team was embedded in the build from the beginning, working in step with Alford Homes across every milestone.
What that looked like in practice: sourcing and matching materials directly to ensure continuity with the home's architecture, coordinating underground scope during the pool dig, running regular site documentation, managing subcontractor sequences, and making real-time field decisions so the client never had to.
The result is a landscape that doesn't look designed around a house. It looks like it was always meant to be there.
THE DESIGN
The vision. Then the reality.
Every Blount Designs project begins with a render — a precise, fully realized vision of what the finished landscape will look and feel like before a single shovel breaks ground. What you see below is that vision. What follows it is what we actually built.

The match isn't coincidence. It's process.
The pool anchors the entire outdoor living sequence — drawing you from the covered porch, across the hardscape terraces, and down to the water's edge. The pool's finish catches the Texas sky differently at every hour. The waterline tile, selected in a sophisticated matte tone, disappears at dusk and reappears each morning like the first time.
The hardscape unfolds in layered limestone terraces — distinct zones for lounging, gathering, and moving through the space — each level connected by steps with integrated lighting that glow warm from late afternoon deep into the night. That lighting isn't decorative. It's structural. It traces the architecture of the landscape so the property reads just as clearly at 9pm as it does at noon.
The fire feature anchors a seating area positioned deliberately to face both the water and the view. On any given evening, that view includes the PGA fairways just beyond the fence — a detail you don't design around. You design toward it.
The planting was reviewed directly with the client — not delegated — to ensure the palette felt personal and would perform in the North Texas climate. Trees, ornamentals, and perimeter plantings were sequenced carefully around the masonry and pool schedule, going in at exactly the right moment to take root and hold.
The lighting runs throughout the entire property — uplights in the ornamental and canopy trees, step and wall fixtures embedded into the hardscape, recessed lights set into the pool deck stone, path lighting through the planting beds, and an LED system under the fire feature that adds depth long after the sun is gone. The full system runs from a single smart controller.
FROM SCAFFOLDING TO GOLDEN HOUR
The build behind the build.

What most people see in a finished project photo: stunning. What they don't see: the months of site visits, material verification, pool coordination, drainage planning, DRC submissions, and sequenced installation that make it possible — and make it last.
We documented this project across every phase. The transformation from bare site to finished landscape is real. The process behind it is why we're confident it will hold up for decades — and why the next builder or homeowner who sees this page should feel confident reaching out.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Blount Designs work directly with custom home builders?
Yes — and it's one of our strengths. We partner with builders across the DFW area, including on master-planned communities that require phased coordination and design review approvals. Our team integrates into the build schedule from the beginning, which means fewer conflicts, better material continuity, and a finished landscape that was designed alongside the home — not added after the fact.
Q: What does Blount Designs' full-service landscape design and installation include?
Our full-service projects cover concept design through final installation and closeout — hardscape, pool deck design, planting plans, landscape lighting, grading, sod, and ongoing coordination with the builder and client throughout. One team. Complete accountability. You don't manage vendors. We do.
Q: Can Blount Designs match landscape materials to an existing home's architecture?
This is central to how we work, especially on custom home projects. On estates like The Preserve, visual continuity between the home and the landscape is non-negotiable. We source and verify materials directly — including stone — to make sure the exterior environment feels like a natural extension of the architecture, not an addition to it.
Q: Does Blount Designs serve Frisco and the broader DFW area? Y
es. Blount Designs works across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, with deep experience in Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, Southlake, and surrounding communities. We're familiar with the design review requirements, soil conditions, and plant performance specific to North Texas — and we bring that knowledge to every project.
